EN 15038 is the first quality standard developed exclusively for the translation industry. The standard defines the requirements for the provision of translation services, setting and aligning standards applicable to the procedures relating to translation and reviewing translated texts, recruitment and competence of translators, relations with the client, additional services, etc.
EN 15038 defines the criteria for the provision of high quality services by providers of translation services and related ones. This applies not only to the translation process, but also all other aspects of the service, i.e.:
• assurance of high quality of translation through reviewing it by another translator (the four eyes principle),
• text edition,
• standardization and automation of terminology and TM database management,
• IT systems and CAT tools,
• data archiving and project management.
